The work consists of an open physical space and a closed linear medium: magnetic tape, stretched as a green dado along the walls, encloses the space within a metaphor of freedom. On the tape is an inaudible recording of A Doll’s House, Ibsen’s classic in which Nora endures and ultimately leaves. The frequency of the tape cannot be accessed by the audience; only silence emerges in the incompatibility of physical media. What remains are the echoes of footsteps on the concrete floor—an emptiness and indifference pointing to the predicament that follows Nora’s departure.
