“Paint” is an ongoing series by the artist. This series can be seen as a form of painting’s self-reflection—using pigment to depict pigment itself. Similar to the artist’s other works, the spatial structure of the images is constructed with precise horizontal and vertical lines. In this body of work, the artist seeks to depict pigment jars with a simplicity reminiscent of the way early Italian Renaissance painters—such as Filippo Lippi, Fra Angelico, and Masaccio—depicted human figures, thereby humanizing what would otherwise be still-life objects.
