“The legend of ‘Nuwa’s intestines transforming into ten spirits’ is grounded in the cyclical relationships of the earth. The artwork The Intestines of Nuwa – Inner Chamber presents fragmented internal cavities. Confined within space, their circulation is obstructed—they are severed, incomplete bodies, trapped in a state of being ‘stuck.’ Beneath the cavities, suspended by hooks, is a purple copper filtering device, performing a process of sifting or filtering, as if a maternal body is being drained of its energy and life. Inside the mesh bag are even smaller life forms, like infants in a cradle, simultaneously waiting to be captured.”
