The artist employs 3D animation and parametric modeling to construct two sets of attire—worn by a ritual specialist and a woman from a mountainous region in Southwest China. Encased and intertwined with the texture of film strips, these hollow shells of bodies and surfaces chant like ghosts in dim light, repeatedly performing a meticulously choreographed ritualized sequence.
The soundscape, created in collaboration with a musician and a rapper, echoes the rhythmic chants used locally to guide spirits back to their ancestral lands—capturing the subtle interplay between vocal cadence and footsteps. Simultaneously, it evokes an AI-like navigation, forming a kind of “cyber-flesh” presence. Through this work, the artist also poses a question: when language loses its meaning and is replaced by an authoritative logic dictating how we mourn and love, where does one’s subjectivity reside?
