The formal source lies in the ornamental windows and inscribed plaques of traditional architecture—structures that support and frame text with architectural mass and presence. These texts are not meant to “express” anything in particular, but to foreground a generative relation on site—the resonance that emerges when text encounters the other works in the exhibition. It is this very encounter that constitutes meaning. They neither narrate nor evoke; rather, they mark a state of encounter between subject and other: text confronting sculpture, plaque confronting copper, Chinese characters confronting the Latin alphabet. Each encounter generates a new relational web. They are directional signposts, open knots—awaiting the viewer to complete the connection.
